Wholesale electricity prices rise over 12% in September – CSO
New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that wholesale electricity prices increased by 12.2% in September compared to August, and were 1% higher compared to September of last year.
But wholesale electricity prices have fallen by 70.9% when compared with their peak seen in August 2022.
The price index for all energy fuels dropped by 1.1% in September and fell by 11.1% since September 2023.
Today’s CSO figures also show that wholesale food prices dropped by 1.8% in the 12 months to September.
Some of the most notable changes in producer prices for food products included a 7.5% increase in fish and fish products, while prices for grain milling, starches and animal feeds fell by 4.4%.
The CSO said that wholesale price inflation showed an increase in September with a rise of 0.2% in the overall Producer Price Index for manufacturing industries in the month.
Producer prices for products sold on the domestic market were 1.8% higher in September compared with the same time last year.
The CSO said that in the year to September, export producer prices fell by 1.7% while overall producer prices were down by 1.6%.
