Slight rise in home retrofits in first 3 months of year

Almost 12,000 home energy upgrades were carried out in the first three months of the year through Government funded grant schemes.

This is up 2% on the number of upgrades carried out during the same period last year.

New figures from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) reveal that Government expenditure across all schemes reached €76 million, up 4% year on year.

1,359 of the homes upgraded were regarded as “energy-poor” homes, which benefitted from fully funded energy upgrades.

Over 5,100 homes were upgraded to a BER B2 or higher between January and the end of March, down 1% over the same period in 2024, while 765 heat pumps were installed.

According to the SEAI, just under 15,000 applications were processed across all schemes in the three month period, down 5% on the same time last year.
